Ezekiel 16:49-50
“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen."
The old pastor's adage that if God doesn't judge North America, he'll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah is not just a cunning turn of phrase... it comes from Ezekiel 16. There God basically says to Judah that given what He had done in judgement previously to Samaria (Israel) and Sodom he would have to give them back what status they had before given how far his mercy and grace has allowed Jerusalem to sin.
