Israel 2013 - Day 1

Israel 2013 - Day 1

Today we landed in Tel Aviv around noon after our 11 hour flight from Toronto.

Tel Aviv is beside the ancient port city of Joppa where Jonah caught and ship to Tarshih as he was running from God (Jonah 1:3).

We then visited Emmaus on the way "up" Highway 1 to Jerusalem (Luke 24:13).

We skirted around the south side of Jerusalem and had a late lunch at Ramat Rachel. Ramat Rachel is a kibbutz (collective farm) that has a 3 star hotel and restaurant. Since its founding in 1929 Ramat Rachel has been the scene of many battles, sieges and attacks through the years. It overlooks the birthplace of Jesus and is very close to traditional location of where Jacob buried his beloved wife Rachel in Genesis 48:7

We've settled into our hotel in Jersualem for the night and are excited to start touring the ancient city tomorrow starting with a walk to the Garden Tomb.
